Evra was warming up ahead of the clash in Portugal when he lashed out at his own fans who had gathered behind the advertising hoarding.

Don't expect Evra to be allowed to play again in the Europa League this year, and who knows whether Marseille will let him play any games at all after this.

Patrice Evra could face a ban of months after kicking one of his own fans in the head.

The former Manchester United captain was sent off before their Europa League defeat to Guimaraes after kicking an away fan in the head.

Some Marseille fans had managed to get out of their section of the stands and force their way to the touchline barriers where they harangued Evra at close contact as the French worldwide warmed up before kick-off.

According to reporters at the match, Evra had been targeted by a group of Marseille fans prior to kick-off for 30 minutes who then preceded to scale the barriers to confront the players.

"Pat has experience and he must not react, it's obvious", Garcia said.

"Patrice is a more than experienced player and we can not respond, of course, to insults as low as they are and as incredible as they are because they come from one of our supporters".

"I will not say the words because it's vulgar but he responded".

It sparked wild scenes as Evra fought back, lashing out at one supporter with an apparent kick to the head, and Garcia had some advice for the 81-time France worldwide.
