Tesla CEO Elon Musk Thursday night sprung a surprise on the world, using the launch of a new electric semi-truck to announce what he said will be the world's fastest production car, a new Tesla Roadster. Sanford C. Bernstein set a $265.00 price objective on shares of Tesla and gave the company a "neutral" rating in a research report on Thursday, July 27th.

The Ontario-based grocer said removing diesel from its transport trucks and refrigerated trailers could reduce more than 94,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, the equivalent of removing more than 20,000 cars from the road.

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has unveiled its new electric semi-truck to the masses during a presentation in Hawthorne, Calif. The company's Semi will reportedly cost 20 percent less to operate than a standard diesel truck.

Tesla's Semi is arriving at a time when a variety of automakers - Daimler, Volkswagen, Nikola, Einride - are also developing electric truck prototypes, some equipped with autonomous driving functions and futuristic designs. 13,682,753 shares of the company traded hands, compared to its average volume of 6,429,817. The company has a quick ratio of 0.71, a current ratio of 1.09 and a debt-to-equity ratio of 1.66. Vanguard Group Inc. boosted its stake in shares of Tesla by 4.9% in the 2nd quarter. That's a total of 1.2 megawatts of motor power. First Walmart placed an order for several Semi trucks from Tesla, and now we're learning that Canadian grocery giant Loblaw is putting in a fair sized order as well. The Firm operates through two divisions: Automotive, and Energy generation and storage.

First deliveries of the Tesla trucks are expected in 2019.

Tesla claims that the Semi's batteries can be charged to 80% capacity (400-mile range) in 30 minutes, using one of its appropriately-named "Mega Chargers". Perhaps 1,000 km. But don't consume too much battery power and don't get caught up in the drunkenness of record-breaking performance.

To top off all the "megas", Tesla stands behind the Semi with a million mile warranty. And Arkansas trucking company J.B. Hunt said it has reserved "multiple" tractors that it will deploy on the West Coast but didn't specify how many.

"With far fewer moving parts than a diesel truck - no engine, transmission, after-treatment system or differentials to upkeep - the Tesla Semi requires significantly less maintenance", Tesla said in a statement. Will the Semi deliver?
